TRIP STYLE | COMFORT LEVEL

A client will choose the comfort level they are looking for based on their budget and expectations. Some will want to travel on a modest budget that allows them an authentic experience and gives them simple access whereas others will be seeking luxury and an exclusive experience while on their travels.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN

Some camps have a minimum age requirement for children that are allowed at a property. It is important to communicate the ages of children at the time of travel. We will, however, give options to our clients that allow for children their age and also communicate discounts, if any are available, for that age group.

TRAVELING SOLO | SINGLE SUPPLEMENT

This is paid by a person when travelling alone to make up for the difference lost because one person is staying in a room. Ideally, properties would prefer for 2 people to share a room. In an instance of single occupancy, the rate becomes higher for the single traveler to recoup some of the losses.

ROOM TYPES

This is used to categorize or define the occupancy of the room being booked.

  • Single: A room assigned to one person.
  • Twin: A room with two separate beds.
  • Double: A room assigned to two people sharing a bed.
  • Triple: A room assigned to three people.
  • Quad: A room assigned to four people.
  • Queen: A room with a queen-sized bed.
  • King: A room with a king-sized bed.
VISA INFORMATION

A visa is an authorization granted by the territory being visited to a foreign guest allowing them to enter, remain or leave that territory. It is important to always check if they need to provide a visa to travel when planning a holiday.

INSURANCE

This is highly recommended and is a cover against costs and losses associated with travelling. It affords a traveler protection in instances beyond their control such as medical emergencies and evacuation, trip cancellations, trip interruptions and/ or delays, as well as for lost, damaged, or stolen luggage.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

When traveling, arrival refers to incoming details and departure refers to outgoing details. These are important to communicate as they are used in the planning of one’s trip. For example, arrival times are used when collecting or scheduling for onward events. If any changes occur, it is important to share them with all those involved in the travel chain.

FOOD | DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

Not all guests eat the same food. For example, some have allergies to food and some have religious specifications for what they consume, etc. It is important to provide a property with these details when booking so that they can best prepare for the guest.

ACCOMODATION

This is where a guest will stay during their vacation or trip.

ACITIVITIES

These are the entertainment while on safari and determine the experience that one gets by virtue of being on holiday. They range from game driving, boating, canoeing and mokoro (dugout canoe), bird watching, fishing, elephant interaction, walking in the bush, scenic flights, cycling, and hot air ballooning to name a few.

CAMPING

This is an outdoor activity in which one stays overnight in a make-shift shelter such as a tent or recreational vehicle. Some areas are designated for such an activity and provide facilities to compensate for those lost by not being in a permanent structure such as ablution blocks and cooking facilities.

MOBILE SAFARI

This is when a small group of guests explore a variety of locations with a guide or host by vehicle. It follows a route in which stops are made for camping and getting to experience a location by observing animals and nature. Different comfort levels can be explored by guests from semi-participatory mobile safaris where they also assist in the setup such as cooking and putting up tents or a fully serviced mobile safari where there is staff providing all services for the guests. Some mobile safaris include stopovers in tented properties instead of camping options.

TRANSPORT | TRANSFER

This is the mode in which a guest is moved from one part of their travel journey to the other. It may be by road or by air and is important to their booking as it may be free or come at a cost. Some clients choose to transport themselves or β€œself-drive”.
